How to make matcha tea

There are more ways to use Ocha Matcha super green matcha powder than you can shake a green cat at. Here we show you how to make matcha tea in 3 different ways.

How to make matcha tea - the traditional method
Traditional method (Japanese tea ceremony how the monks and warriors drink it)
  • Add 1 Chashaku (bamboo scoop equivalent to 1/2 teaspoon) of Ocha Matcha powder to a bowl
  • Break up using a Chasen (bamboo whisk)
  • Add hot water (from just under boiling point)
  • Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion
  • Bring tea to a froth
  • Drink immediately before the matcha powder has a chance to settle
  • Enjoy and feel the benefits!
How to make matcha tea - the modern kettle method

Modern method (how the people with no matcha tea set drink it)
  • Boil the kettle then leave to sit for a few minutes
  • Sift 1/2 teaspoon of Ocha Matcha powder into a cup (don't force it through, just gently shake it)
  • Add the hot water
  • Drink immediately before the matcha powder has a chance to settle
  • Enjoy!

On the go method (how the busy people drink it)
  • Add 1 teaspoon of Ocha Matcha powder to a bottle of water
  • Shake the bottle vigorously
  • Drink immediately before the matcha powder has a chance to settle
  • Enjoy!

 

Please note, that your Ocha Matcha comes in a sealed tin to ensure the magic powder is kept to it's best. It's not shy, but it should be kept in the dark. Please also consume within 4 weeks of opening.
